We pull flood, crime, environmental, permit, and property data from public, government, and open-data sources, cross-reference them where they overlap, and clearly mark any field that's estimated rather than on record — so you always know what you're looking at.
Coverage
Where our local records come from
106 cities and 78 counties have a registered local adapter on the BYB data network; 48 of them serve per-property permit records. Coverage is per municipality or per county — one live city does not make its state covered. Click any of them for the exact source list. Everywhere else, reports fall back to national and state-level public sources — and say so in the report.
Of 188 permit sources in the network, byb-data has audited 75. Of those, 49 are current, 11 publish genuine records but have stopped advancing, and 11 are blocked at the source. The remaining 113 are unaudited — we don’t describe them as current. When a report can’t reach a source it says so; it never shows an empty result as “no permits found”.
